This bullseye tick bite consists of a red bumpy rash that not surprisingly looks like a bullseye - check out the pictures above.

Out of all the dog rashes that occur, whether it is an allergic reaction or an actual infection the occurrence of the classic bullseye can sometimes but not always be a symptom of lyme disease.

Consequently, we have included some pictures of the classic red bumpy skin rash so that you are able to spot the possible symptoms early and fast so that you can get immediate medical attention for you, your dog, puppy or other pets.

  • Lyme disease and the classic red bumpy bullseye tick bite rash shown in the pictures above - is passed on by bites from the deer tick - see photo. Although the rash is often a symptom of lyme disease it is possible to get the disease without getting the classic bullseye rash - or to give it it's scientific name erythema migrans.
  • There are many situations where people or dogs have been misdiagnosed due the fact that that some people are under the impression that the rash is always the size of a silver dollar - but this is simply not the case and the rash can not only vary in size but can also appear in several places at the same time.
  • One of the most dangerous myths connected to this type of bite is the fact that people have been diagnosed as not having lyme disease as they don't have the rash - this is not true - you can still have the disease without the rash. We have included some symptoms of lyme disease below...
Symptoms of Lyme Disease.

Symptoms of lyme disease is quite similar in humans as it is in dogs. Below we have provided some tick bite symptoms that may indicate that you or your dog, puppy or pets have lyme disease.
  • Fever - A rise in temperature is an early indication of lyme disease.
  • Appetite Loss - A loss of appetite where food is left either hardly touched or not touched at all - a good indication in dogs and pets.
  • Swollen and Sore Limbs - Soreness and swollen limbs may occur anywhere on the body and also make your dog limp.
  • Skin Infections - If you or dog has a tick infestation skin infections may occur.
  • Tiredness and Lethargy - Also an indication of lyme disease.
  • Arthritis - Is an indication of a tick related disease like lyme disease fever.
