Parvo virus in dogs and puppies, the symptoms and treating the disease include extreme vomiting, often the types of diarrhea are very bloody & the infection can even be fatal....and fast!

There are two forms of this disease but the most common form of canine parvo virus is the form that infects the intestines and can attack puppies from the age of 4 weeks and can can infect dogs as they get old.

The disease can also be carried on humans clothing and shoes.

This extremely contagious disease can kill a dog or puppy within 48-72 hours and although there are vaccinations that can control the disease, dogs and puppies can still contract the infection.

• Extreme diarrhea containing blood.
• Extreme vomiting.
• Dehydration.
• Fever.
• Lethargy, tiredness and a lack of energy.
• Depression.
• Extreme pain in the abdomen.
• Your dog or puppy may refuse water.

If your dog is going to be ok, he should be better within 4-5 days, but if it effects your puppy then it may stunt his growth and may even leave him bold for anything up to a year.

• The disease can be fatal quickly and it is very difficult to completely disinfect an infected area.
• Bleach (sodium hypochlorite) can be used against canine parvo virus but allot of disinfectants will not kill the disease.
• Fluids should be given often to your pooch.
• Your vet may prescribe antibiotics.
• The disease can live on an infected area for months, so an infected area should be used again for 6 months or more.
