Parvo virus in older dogs

Hi. I have a 12 year old golden retriever (Surrey) She has just finished the course of treatment for the worm- Spiro.. and also has a cardiac problem (enlaged aorta which tends to block her trachea) Because she has been sick i didnt have her update booster for Parvo 4-1. On saturday my dads 18 month old mini poodle collapsed and was diagnosed with Parvo. Surrey is in constant contact with this puppy- now I am worried- specially because of the Spiro and heart problem. After the puppy was admitted I had Surrey revaccinated but I know it takes 10days to go into effect and Parvo has a 4-7 day incubation. Do I have good reason to worry or can I relax- this dog is my life!!

If you take a look through our section on Parvo Virus - it may help a little. We have also included a section in our page on Dog Vaccinations. Sorry we cant be more helpful but we tend to stay clear of giving direct advice on individual circumstances when it comes to dogs and vaccinations as each dog is different and only a vet can really give the most appropriate advice.
