The
yorkie shih tzu mix is as mixture of Yorkshire Terrier and Shih Tzu.
Obviously they are not pure breeds and are also known as Shorties.
Below are some facts
on this popular breed...
Temperament
- They are quite energetic and also very active so they need to be with
a family who are also quite active and energetic. They are quite placid
with the mixture of two breeds getting the best of both worlds i.e they
are not prone to barking or yapping like the Yorkshire Terrier and have
the relaxed temperament of the Shih Tzu. They are good with strangers
and also good with other dogs.
Size
- They tend to grow to
grow in height from 5-9 inches and adults can weigh anywhere from 4-13
pounds.
Grooming
- They are considered
quite easy to maintain with a long silky coat that is non shedding and
good for people with allergies. The coat should be groomed once a month
with careful attention taken to cut the hair around the eyes.
Exercise
- They are active and energetic so will need regular walks on a daily
basis.
Color
- They come in a variety of colors including black, brown, red, beige
and white.
Training
- Training Yorkshire
Terriers mixed with Shih Tzus is quite easy as long as you remain pack
leader and are always consistent.
